| Founding members John Strege, Paul Rogner and Craig Rutz organized the band at Concordia University Chicago in 1971 and the band has continued entertaining audiences, taking time out for meals and an occasional shower (Karen showers daily - we can't vouch for the others.). "Newer" members Karen Steltman-McBride and Jim Nier are well into their second decade with SYNOD. Having lived through or just plain outlived the musical trends of four decades, SYNOD remains as strong as ever. There is no substitute for live music. A great band translates music into powerful emotion and gets people on their feet. These five experienced musicians have proven that fact at hundreds of shows across 11 states. From the raw power of rock and roll to the thoughtful nuance of a love song, each individual adds an element to SYNOD's musical chemistry.
